Item Description

Custom Rod by Charles Armontrout

For 2017, Charles has chosen a Titanium Grey color blank for a 9' 4wt, 4pc with case. It will be wrapped in burgundy and trimmed in Silver Blush metallic (pastel pink).

Circumstances have delayed the photos of this year’s work of useable art; the pictures you see here show the lovely choices of blanks, wraps, and decals typical of his rods. Go to his new website to see other examples of his amazing workmanship and design.  In case you think these rods are just for show, a recent auction winner will testify that they are silky smooth, accurate casters that stand up to wild trout very nicely. Any angler would be very happy to fish it!

The stats on the fly rod blank are as follows:

Blank is an SHG904, 4pc 4wt fly rod - 9' in length. A "med-fast" action blank even for a four weight. I am unaware of the manufacturer as they are a specific blank proprietary to Bingham Enterprises of Overland Park, KA.  This is one of the more popular blanks I had in stock as it is one of many I had with the SHG designation from earlier inventory purchases. The newer models are listed as BING-SHX.
The color is listed as "Titanium Chrome" in a glossy sheen. It does not look like true chrome but in reality, in daylight it displays a slight "sage green" overtone that looks great with the burgundy wraps.

The reel seat wood is a piece of solid East Indian Rosewood in a glossy sheen which is a rich sable variegated wood color.

Charles Armontrout began building fishing rods in 1973 then building fly rods exclusively in 2003.  Donated the first fly rod to Casting for Recovery's Mid-Atlantic Program in 2011.
