Item Description
Handmade quilt by Julia Avrahami, an award-winning Israeli quilter. Israel's main city, Tel-Aviv, is an ongoing city. Everyone can find something to do or something to see any hour of the day. Julia chose to use fabrics in light and dark colors for the background to represent that, and the spiral lets the viewer sense the pace of the city. Materials: Commercial cotton fabrics, hand dyed fabrics, polyester batting, cotton threads. Techniques: Strips cutting, fusing, photo transfer, applique, machine piecing and machine quilting. Quilt measures 104 X 138 cm (40" x 54").
Item Special Note
Julia Avrahami was born in Argentina and immigrated to Israel in 1977. She studied at Itzuvim, integrated Art College, in Jaffa, where she learned centuries-old traditional techniques to quilting. She has continued to hone her crafting skills through her studies with the leading teachers in Israel. Julia has been a member of the Israel Quilter's Association since 1999.
