Item Description
The 2018 Marin County Fair will celebrate inclusiveness, equality, diversity, community, and fun with its theme of “All For One & Fun for All.”
The fair, scheduled for June 30 to July 4, 2018, at the Marin County Fairgrounds in San Rafael, also will emphasize Marin’s dedication to some of the things we value most in our community: family, art, agriculture, and the environment.
Themed exhibit categories will include decorated flags and banners, baked goods and culinary contests from around the world, global photography, and more. Returning fair classics are traditional carnival rides, free concerts, and fireworks every night over the Civic Center’s Lagoon Park.
“We developed the theme as an opportunity to celebrate everyone who lives in our community,” said Marin County Director of Cultural Services Gabriella C. Calicchio. “The fair showcases the best of what we each have to offer, whether a community poem, a fifth-grader’s art project, an amazing hip-hop dancer, a grandmother’s award-winning quilt or three generations of a family working on an ‘art in the spot’ project.
“At the fair, we don’t care what your country of origin is, what color skin you have, or what your religious or political beliefs are. We care about creating a safe space for everyone to leave their worries behind and have fun!”
As always, the Marin County Fair prides itself on being the Greenest County Fair on Earth with its solar-powered carousel and stage, commitment to water conservation, and 94 percent waste diversion to compost and recycling.
The fair’s headline music acts will be announced in the spring.
