Item Description
What is a Post Partum Doula?
Taken from the Greek, the word “doula” has come to refer to “a woman who helps new mothers in ways that family and friends did in years past.” The doula can make the difference between chaos and peace, comfort and discomfort, during those first few weeks at home with a newborn.
The doula’s role is to ease and support a smooth and healthy postpartum transition from pregnancy and birth to parenthood. With an experienced and sympathetic ear to your questions, concerns and feelings, your doula provides a non-judgmental, comforting, and calming presence. She guides, informs, and empowers you and your family. She enables and encourages you to focus your energy on your new baby, while validating your intuitive ability to be a nurturing, confident and competent parent.
When the mother is well cared for,the whole family benefits. Your doula individually responds to the needs of you and your family, helping to shape a memorable, joyful, and positive postpartum experience.
