Item Description

Nicholas Mosse Pottery was established by Nicholas Mosse in 1976 after periods of training in England and Japan. His mission was to produce beautiful, functional pottery in the style of Irish Spongeware. Irish spongeware was the traditional pottery of Ireland used in the 18th Century. It was mainly made in simple honest shapes with a decoration applied with a cut sponge.  Today every piece of Nicholas Mosse Pottery is handmade in Ireland.

The long established, intricately hand painted Landscape pattern has been produced since the 1980's. Each piece is built up with tiny sponged and painted elements to create a miniature world, with overtones of the Irish countryside. Loved by children as well as grownups.

Offered here is a retired piece, the Medium Covered Jar in the Landscape pattern.  Base measures 6", height from base to top of lid, approximately 9".   The jar has been displayed only, not put in active use.  Crazing of glaze does not affect the value of  the item.
