Item Description

Exclusively designed for the National Archives

"Every spring in Washington, we celebrate the cherry blossom trees and their beautiful pink and white flowers that bloom in late March. The majority of the trees are located near the Tidal Basin, where they are most often viewed. The Japanese cherry trees were a gift from Mayor Yukio Ozaki of Tokyo to the city of Washington on March 27, 1912. From before the Treaty of Kanagawa to recent times, the National Archives holds many records related to the United States' relationship with Japan.

Using a digital printing process that allows for more gradations in color than a silkscreen process, Middle Kingdom now brings high quality design and manufacturing to silk scarves. Bo Jia and Alison Alten established the Middle Kingdom kiln in 1998 in Washington, DC, to revive and broaden Chinese porcelain traditions for a modern audience."
