Summer vacation begins! Don’t miss this rare opportunity to camp in a tipi at Upper Sioux Agency State Park, a prairie gem with scenic vistas of the surrounding area and miles of hiking trails. The park preserves the Upper Sioux Agency historic site and offers one of the most unique stays in the state – a tipi. It also features top recreation, including fishing in the Yellow Medicine and Minnesota Rivers, bird watching and horseback riding trails.
This canvas tipi is 18-foot diameter and set up in the Yellow Medicine River Campground in a stretch of prairie. The tipi can house up to six people and includes a fire ring outside the door.
This reservation was made over one year in advance – snatch it up while you can!

Details:
Bathrooms: Water and toilet facilities are available
Capacity: Up to six people.
Remember to bring sleeping bags, sleeping mats, cots or other bedding.
Contact park staff for suggestions.
Cooking: Campfires, candles, or other open flames are not allowed inside tipis. Picnic tables and fire rings with grills for cooking are provided outside.
Firewood: Can be purchased at the park office. Minnesota allows only approved firewood on DNR lands.
Pets: All pets must be kept on a leash of not more than six feet and personally attended at all times. Pets are not allowed inside tipis, wall tents, or other buildings, lodging facilities, or beach areas.
Quiet Hours: From 10 p.m. to 8 a.m.
