Item Description

Enjoy these four books by Don Blanding, one of America's best loved poets.

Book One: "Leaves from a Grass-House"

This book is the fourth edition. Copyright 1923.

Excerpt from book: "My grass house stands by the open sea, On a bit of beach that belongs to me, And I paid — I don't remember the price, Of my little acre in Paradise."

Book Two: "Drifter's Gold"

This book is a signed copy. Copyright 1939.

Excerpt from book: "I've squandered the gold that is minted coins, With carefree and spendthrift hands, Buying folly and sorrow and joy, On the byways of many lands. But the fold that is minted from memories, That I've gleaned from the world's far ends, I've hoarded and saved against the day, When I could share it friends."

Book Three: "Today Is Here"

This book is a signed copy. Copyright 1946.

Excerpt from jacket: " ... Don Blanding, vagabond and lover of life, beckons his readers to share with him the hidden treasures of today and to explore the enchanted memories of yesterday. In a mood of exotic nostalgia he recalls the tropical lure of Pua-Loa and the hypnotic charm of a Mexican opal-mosaic. In a lighter humor he revives the strange exciting paradox of Hollywood Boulevard or revels in the absurdity of a lady in a cockeyed hat."

Book Four: "A Grand Time Living"

Copyright 1950. This book is signed and has a personal message to previous owner.

Excerpt from jacket: "Some of the poems are several pages in length and alive with a sensuous beauty of sight and sound and taste and smell. Others are brief and reveal a deepening spiritual insight. Whether long or short, these poems are infused with mingled spirits and a positive optimism, the mature philosophy of a man who has had 'a grand time living' and challenges the future with expectancy."
