Item Special Note

Walter Cruz is a Bronx-based visual artist who's practice is rooted in sharing stories and experiences of the African Diaspora. Cruz combines, art, design and technology to create his works of art. Walter has exhibited work nationally and internationally, including Art Basel 2017, The Whitney Museum, and the TOAST Art Fair in Osaka, Japan. Currently, he has work on display at The Museum of The City of New York as part of the on-going "Activist New York" exhibit as well as in the touring group show "To Protect & Serve? Five Decades of Posters Protesting Police Violence" with the Center for Political Graphics in Los Angeles. Walter also spends time being a possibility for young people as a teaching and studio artist. Most recently being an artist-in-residence with NurtureArt Gallery and The Laundromat Project. Cruz also co-led an experimental high school art course; "We Honor You" in collaboration with City-As High School and the Black Lives Matter Network, resulting in the creation of SayHerName.BlackLivesMatter.com. With a strong belief that success is a team sport, Walter Cruz is a team player. @2oceans
