Item Description
Custom Rod by Charles Armontrout for 2018 is:
- The rod is built on an MHX Satin Charcoal finished graphite blank being 8'6" in length and is designed for a 5wt fly line. It is a four piece model with a med-fast action.
- The reel seat is made of bright nickel plated brass to mimic the weight of the old nickel silver reel seats of many years ago and is mated with a piece of Cocobolo wood finished to a high gloss.
- The cork grip is a style created by Charles Ritz quite a few decades ago with a modification at the reel seat end to accept the solid hood of the seat up into the cork. The grip at it largest diameter at the front end is approx 1 inch. At the smallest diameter at the reel seat, it's approx 7/8". Total length is 7 inches.
- The guides are standard snake guides that are titanium chrome (TiCh) coated SS which is very hard and will not groove with any line or backing that will ever get used on a freshwater fly rod. A hook keeper is mounted bottom center of the blank under the specification decal on the blank.
- The rod will be supplied with the green Clear Creek PVC covered case shown in photos.
Charles Armontrout began building fishing rods in 1973 then building fly rods exclusively in 2003. Donated the first fly rod to Casting for Recovery's Mid-Atlantic Program in 2011.
