About the Artist:
Avigail Manneberg is a Minneapolis-based artist who grew up in Israel, where she received her Bachelor in Design from the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem in 2006. In addition to receiving her Master in Fine Arts from the University of Minnesota in 2012, she has tough regularly as an Adjunct Professor at the Department of Drawing and Painting. Avigail is currently an Adjunct Professor at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design
Avigail lived in Berlin in 2009 and in 2015, supported by DAAD fellowships, where she studied at the University of the Arts (UdK). Avigail has also been the Artist-in-Residence at the Tychman Shapiro Gallery in Minneapolis in 2013. She has exhibited in the USA and internationally, including in Finland, Berlin, Cyprus, Beijing and Israel. She works in varied media, such as painting, drawing, video, sound and fabric. Her most recent body of work is paintings in direct response to the chaos experienced by those fleeing conflict.
Avigail is the recipient of 2018 Minnesota State Arts Board Artist Initiative Visual Arts grant and she is also the recipient of the University of Minnesota's 2018 Human Rights Initiative Grant for the project: A Contested Home: Memory, Commemoration and Rights around Forced Migration of Palestinians in the Galilee.
