For chef Dan Barber, the subject of Season 1, Episode 2 of the Netflix series Chef’s Table, “farm to table” is more than just a buzzy phrase — it’s a way of life.

Dan Barber is the chef and co-owner of Blue Hill in Manhattan and Blue Hill at Stone Barns (Eater critic Bill Addison’s 2016 Best Restaurant in America) in Pocantico Hills, New York, and one of the fiercest culinary advocates for sustainable, ethical farming and seasonal cooking. Barber’s family owns Stone Barns, where, with help from the farmers at Stone Barns Center for Food & Agriculture, they grow ingredients used at both restaurants.

The Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival Theater Tent

More than any other venue in the American theater, the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival Theater Tent, based at Boscobel in Garrison, New York, is the perfect home for the sorts of comical-tragical hybrids you’ll see here this summer: an uproarious summertime romp, a fantastical work from the twilight of Shakespeare’s career, Sondheim’s homage to fractured fairy-tales, a reimagining of a French classic by a longtime HVSF fan favorite, and an electrifying play of political upheaval — specially shaped for student audiences.

JULIUS CAESAR

A charismatic war hero on the brink of kingship, Caesar is celebrated by the people of Rome – but mistrusted by some of his closest friends who fear his popularity will throw the country into chaos. In our immersive, 90-minute production originally developed with middle and high schoolers in mind, audience members will construct a post-apocalyptic world of power and consequence with their own movement and voices.
