Artist Tschabalala Self was recently nominated for a Drama Desk for her puppet design in The Vineyard and The New Group's recent world premiere of Jeremy O. Harris's play "Daddy."
No matter the medium she's using — be it paint or plush — Self's art, in her own words, "provides alternative, and perhaps fictional explanations for the voyeuristic tendencies towards the gendered and racialized body; a body which is both exalted and abject." Self uses a spectrum of sewn, printed and painted materials in her art, creating a diaspora of various artistic and craft traditions which refuse to be contained by the norm of a typical canvas.
Join Tschabalala on a private tour of her art studio in New Haven, CT, then share in a champagne toast.
The champagne in this package is two bottles of sparkling Billecart-Salmon Rose Champagne from France, provided by Tribeca Wine Merchants.
- A mutually convenient date must be decided on for both the winner and the artist.
- Travel not included. Winner must have transportation to New Haven, CT.
