Item Description

"Seas the Day" by Bridget Strong Olson

Medium: Paint

Size: 19" x 8"

Artist Statement:

I don't consider myself an artist, more of a creative spirit. In my mind, artists tend to stick primarily to one medium and I have not yet found one lane I want to travel in. After living in Beverly for the last 11 years, I have taken inspiration from the sea and that has brought creativity that I never knew I had. We just moved to NY and are no longer near the ocean, but I have carried that inspiration with me and continue to create as if I am still seaside. I also use any time we are back on the North Shore visiting my in-laws in Marblehead to soak up all of the beauty of the area so I can draw upon it when I am landlocked back home.

Artist Biography:

Bridget Strong Olson is a native New Yorker who had spent the last 21 years as an adopted child of Massachusetts. She fell in love with a boy from Salem and they raised their son Parker in Beverly. In 2017 they migrated back to her hometown in the Hudson Valley, Goshen, NY, but the spirit of the North Shore is now ingrained in her soul. She studied Creative Writing, Spanish and Marketing at The University of New York at Brockport and Universidad de Salamanca (Spain) and has spent the last 20 years as a Digital Marketing Manager working for such companies as Fidelity Investments and GE. She has spent the last decade working for Philips Healthcare as their Senior Global Marketing Manager. She enjoys cheering on Boston sports team even though she is back in NY and exploring with her husband Scott and their 9 year old son. Her preferred method of unwinding is strolling on the beach looking for shells and sea glass and she and her family have amassed a collection from all over Massachusetts' North Shore which they now proudly display in their NY home. Bridget also loves to do anything creative, whether it is rescuing and refinishing furniture, painting on antique stained glass windows or designing custom art pieces. Whatever she can do to keep the creative side of her brain active makes her happy.
