Back by popular demand! The Marblehead Festival of Arts is excited to welcome back our fabulous cod exhibition and online auction! To celebrate our local creativity, for the fifth year in a row we invited a talented group of regional artists to decorate large wooden codfish using any medium of their choosing.

These one-of-a-kind decorated codfish will be up for bid in our Festival of Cod online fundraising auction, to begin May 17 and run through July 7, 2019.

From classic to whimsical, there’ll be a cod for everyone. You’ll be able to find one just right for you or as the perfect gift! If you won an artistic cod in any of the previous Cod Auctions, this will be an opportunity to add to your collection. If you didn’t purchase a cod previously, this will be another chance to get one of these fabulous works! Watch this space for bidding to begin!

You will also find the decorated cods on display in various Marblehead businesses during the auction. Each cod’s individual auction page provides information on the contributing artist and the business where that codfish is displayed.

So visit these Marblehead businesses and check out the decorated cods in person! Tell your family and friends to visit and bid too!

Make your bid to support the Festival!

All proceeds from the Festival of Cod online auction will go directly to support future Marblehead Festival of Arts programs and scholarships.

Pick-up of purchased cods will be July 9-14 in Marblehead. Winning bidders will be notified of pick-up time and location. For winners who are unable to arrange for pick-up, shipping will be available for most cods for an additional charge.

About the Marblehead Festival of Arts

The Marblehead Festival of Arts (MFoA) was established to promote and foster artistic events and activities in the town of Marblehead, Massachusetts, by producing an annual Arts Festival over the July 4th holiday weekend. The MFoA has a rich history of producing a premier summer arts festival that has become a unique forum for artistic expression. In 2015 the MFoA celebrated its 50th year and was named the 2015 Best of North Shore Editors’ Choice for Best Arts Festival. The MFoA has been named both Editors’ Choice and Readers’ Choice for Best Arts Festival in the  Best of North Shore.

The MFoA is an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization comprising more than forty committees and involving several hundred volunteers. Today, the MFoA operates year-round to produce and collaborate on many programs in addition to the annual Festival, thereby contributing to the development of other community organizations and arts projects. All MFoA exhibits and activities are free and open to the public. The MFoA relies solely on donations and fundraising events to finance its operations.
