Item Description
Nicki Reno-Welt fell in love with ceramics in high school and has found various ways to keep her hands in the dirt despite having a “real” day job as a physician assistant in women’s health. In her studio, MudBar, she works mainly with high-fire porcelain clay and throws her pieces on the wheel. After the first firing, she adds the drawings and paintings to the piece using mishima and sgraffito (two fancy words for techniques that are basically different types of carving and glazing.) All of her pieces are dishwasher safe, microwave safe and oven safe (up to 500 degrees) – basically, they are much stronger than most dishes you buy in the store and they are meant to be used!
