Item Description
This wild bamboo clutch bag with leather closure is handmade by artisans in the Philippines.
Wild bamboo is one of the strongest species of bamboo, known by local natives to resist decay and pests. Bamboo timbers are harvested, cut down into strips, cleaned, and are then meticulously woven into the desired shape. Bamboo grows fast and when harvested in a mature state, promotes more growth making it friendly to the environment.
Cloth Object uses fibers and textiles to blend the line between function and art. Fibers and textiles protect, provide warmth, and contain, but those made by hand go farther by imbuing a moment, a mood, a place, and the culture of its maker. By understanding these points of view, we better appreciate and can be empowered by these artisanal works. Cloth Object supports artisanal communities in and around the Philippines and explore the handmade traditions of weaving, dyeing, knotting, and basket making to craft beautiful and timeless products.
