Item Description

"Spirit of Marblehead" by James Maroney

Medium: Mixed Media w/photographs, shells, and paint

Size: 19" x 8"

Artist Statement:

I'm a documentary filmmaker who's been living in Marblehead for 5 years. Since moving here I've been photographing the beauty of the seaside town along with the many historical places. My biggest love has been the amazing art community who've warmly welcomed me to my new hometown. I'm currently taking my creativity to another level by working with the various mediums I've been teaching myself. Local artists have inspired me to sketch, paint, draw and create zen beach stones that have been so healing. Creating a cod for Marblehead Festival of Arts is my way of giving back to a community that has warmly embraced me. The photographs I incorporated in my codfish are a perfect way to express my gratitude for the towns rich history and magnificence. The shells I used are a natural way of expression that connects me to the sea and the fishermen. Thank you Marblehead!
