Artist Statement:

This is my 1st year participating in the Marblehead Arts Association Festival of Cods. "Bedazzled Cod Dashian" is fashioned after my other creations except I went a little overboard like a Kardashian getting dressed up for a magnificent event, which this one is! My fun began each time I collected a piece of driftwood on the beach while walking my dog, Stella. I knew that I wanted to someday create something unique and original with that found wood. I knew I wanted to make designs to make people happy. My creative juices overflowed every time I looked at the form and texture of those weathered pieces. I yearned for a creative outlet, a sort of a beach therapy. Bedazzled Fish was born in 2017 when I found a friend rummaging thru a box of old jewelry, buttons and beads, and then realized, I could incorporate those items onto the driftwood. My yearning was satisfied when I found joy in making and selling those whimsical creations. I am blessed to share that joy with those who enjoy my work. I am blessed that I have met my goal and found an outlet to make myself and others happy.

Artist Biography:

For the past 14 years, Dawn Jenkins has resided near Kings Beach in Lynn, MA. For years, she found it profitable to refurbish, repaint, repurpose and readorn anything she could remake, renew and resell. In 2017 while walking her Boxer dog, Stella, on the beach, her latest mixed media adventure "Bedazzled Fish" was born. Since 2005, Dawn has developed not only "Bedazzled Fish" but other original art concepts such as "Creations Etc" using mixed media, selling her work to gift stores geared toward home design. Dawns customers love collecting and giving her art as unique gifts. She has always had an innate ability for color and creation and enjoys developing one-of-a-kind designs. Dawn attended Newbury School of Fashion Design, worked in clothing manufacturing for some time and retired from a 23-year career at the MBTA. Dawn displays her work and is a member of the Galleries At LynnArts (GALA), is a self-taught artist, and is just getting her feet wet in the local arts community.

Item Special Note

Pick-up of purchased cods will be July 9-14 at Lizzy Loo, 108 Washington St, Marblehead during normal store hours. The winning bidder will receive a notification email with information on pick-up time and location.

If winning bidder requires shipping, winner's credit card will be charged a separate $24.95 fee to cover USPS ground and handling. Shipping is available within the U.S. only and must be requested within 7 days after receipt of the notification email.

Any cod purchased via "Buy Now" will remain on display at the hosting business through the end of the auction, and will be available for pick-up as detailed in the winning bidder notification email.

If winning bidder has not picked up cod (or provided shipping address) within 30 days after the close of the auction, cod will become the property of Marblehead Festival of Arts, Inc.
