Item Description
"Cod Voyager" by Betsy Hoffman
Medium: Mixed Media
Size: 19" x 8"
Artist Statement:
I've always been fascinated by charts and maps because they are graphic representations of places one can imagine traveling and voyaging to. They lend themselves to layering with other mediums and collaging. With this piece I was interested in the idea of cod migrating and voyaging. I also had in mind the history of cod fishing and the empire of wealth it built in the North Atlantic being tied to great voyages by schooners and ships to fish for them and then carry them all over the world.
