Item Description
This print is #11, "The Farmer Couple," from a portfolio by Lior Roth that contained twelve original prints. The prints were accompanied by a text sheet which is shown here as a secondary image and contains a detailed description of the portfolio. The print is inscribed as an "artist's proof."
Lior Roth was an Israeli painter, born in 1914 in Austria-Hungary. In 1920, Roth moved to Germany and, in 1933, immigrated to Palestine. He studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Roth first settled in Tel Aviv, then moved to Kvutzat Kinneret, then finally to Kibbutz Afikim where he remained until his death. He served as Director of the Art Academy of the Kibbutzim. Roth exhibited in the Israel, United States, Australia, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Holland, Sweden, Denmark and South America. He died in 2002.
[These prints are part of a collection of prints from a gallery in New York that was going out of business. The gallery owner’s son donated these prints to Congregation Ahavath Shalom (CAS).
