For more than 150 years, the American Museum of Natural History has been one of the world’s preeminent institutions for scientific research, exhibitions, and education. The Museum houses more than 34 million artifacts and specimens, including the largest collection of dinosaur fossils in the world and specialized collections for frozen tissue and genomic and astrophysical data, as well as one of the largest natural history libraries in the world.
With more than 40 permanent exhibition halls at the Museum, visitors of all ages can journey to the outer reaches of the universe or explore the natural world and human cultures. The many highlights include the Cullman Hall of the Universe, Gottesman Hall of Planet Earth, Hayden Big Bang Theater, and Black Hole Theater, all located in the internationally acclaimed Rose Center for Earth and Space; the Milstein Family Hall of Ocean Life, which features the iconic 94-foot-long model of a blue whale suspended from the ceiling; and many other exciting exhibits, such as the Museum’s Titanosaur.
