Item Description
This anatomical soft sculture heart can be used to teach vision-impaired and sighted children about the human heart.
The artist, Emily Schnellbacher Bean, uses embroidery for the arteries and veins and velvet for the atrium, making it highly tactile.
Measures about 8 inches high by 5 inches wide.
Schnellbacher Bean is a multi-media artist who received her BFA from Herron School of Art and Design in Indianapolis, IN, and a MFA from the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia, PA. She exhibits regularly in both group and solo shows.
She is the recipient of several awards and honors, including the Walter and Helen Mowrey Scholarship, the Louise E. Fulton Indianapolis Museum of Art Portfolio Scholarship, was nominated for the Mildred Darby Menz Award, and a Finalist in the Fleisher Art Memorial 36th Wind Challenge. She currently lives and works in Royal Oak, MI.
