Item Description
Half Dome is a granite peak at the eastern end of Yosemite Valley in Yosemite National Park, California. It is a well-known rock formation in the park, named for its distinct shape. One side is a sheer face while the other three sides are smooth and round, making it appear like a dome cut in half. The granite crest rises more than 4,737 ft above the valley floor. In this photograph, Half Dome towers in the right center background of the photograph while a calm stream and a variety of trees support it in the foreground.
About the Artist: Harold Kurzman became interested in photography in college but spent his career in international economics with the United States Department of State, African Bureau. It was during his career in Africa, as well as during his retirement, that he traveled extensively and had amazing opportunities to photography natural scenery. He has shown his artwork in many esteemed art centers and has won several awards for his photography.
