Nelson Mandela, a leader of the anti-apartheid movement in South Africa, spent 27 years in prison. He continued to direct a campaign of peaceful, nonviolent defiance against the South African government and its racist policies until 1993 when he was freed by South African president F.W. de Klerck.

In South Africa’s general election on April 27, 1994,  Nelson Mandela was elected president and on May 10, 1994 he was inaugurated as South Africa’s first black president.

A symbol of global peacemaking, Nelson Mandela won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993.

 This poster is tangible history!

The ANC reprinted some of the election posters in 2017, but this is one of the very rare posters that were nailed to telephone poles throughout South Africa before the 2014 election.

Authentication is included

Note: The poster has nail holes in it. SRI-South Africa took the posters off telephone poles after the 2014 election and shipped them to SRI Headquarters in the USA.
