Item Description
Draped on a white cloth, two dark blue bottles appear in the foreground in start contrast to the white material background. The flowers and other elements in this still life, add textural and color definition.
About the artist: Six year old Irene Pastarnack starting private painting and drawing lessons in Frankfurt, Germany. In March 1938, she and her family fled Europe, settling in New York. During her professional career, Irene was a fabric designer and later designed men’s ties. She also taught at Iona College and at the local high school. Now retired, Irene continues to actively study and produce art, which she displays in local galleries and juried art shows.
