Item Description
Do you have a kid who loves to write? Or maybe a teen who’s petrified of the next essay assignment? Introducing…Writopia Lab!
Writopia Lab is a nationally-renowned literary nonprofit that offers ridiculously fun writing workshops for kids and teens, ages 6-18. Our mission is to foster joy, literacy and critical thinking in children and teens from all backgrounds through creative writing. We create a safe and engaging space for writers at all stages of the writing process, and we aim to provide the creative inspiration, indvidual attention and intellectual environment that may not be available at school.
In workshop our writers explore the creative writing genre of their choice or essay writing. Our instructors are published authors who are deeplu invested in the well-bring and development of Writopia writers. They help our writers complete one piece of writing by the end of each workshop. Participants are then invited to read their writing at a local book store, and may also publish their pieces online at Writopia's own literary magazines, The PARENTHETICAL or The ELLIPSIS.
It’s great for all kinds of writers – motivated, reluctant, scared of the blank page or overflowing with ideas. Each workshop is limited to 8 writers for individualized strategies and exercises. There are Chromebooks and journals for every writer too, so really all you need to do is come with an open mind.
