Latino/a students are more likely than any other ethnic group in the State to drop out of school and score low on standardized tests. They’re also less likely to enter and graduate from college, and feel less empowered in school.
UVFC’s weekly, school-based CLARO and CLARA mentorship groups provide upvalley Latino/a teens with confidence-building activities and support to help them bridge cultural and socio-economic gaps, increase their wellbeing, and foster stronger school engagement.
Last year, 80% of participants reported that they were engaging in healthier behaviors as a result of the program, and 84% reported having more positive relationships with family and peers.
