2016, Oil on panel with crystals, 11.5” x 11.5” Framed. By Hudson Valley artist and PS 139 Grandparent Marlene Lipinski. The painting is from a series depicting an area of forest floor in Black Rock Forest, near Bear Mountain. The breakdown from leaf to soil takes hundreds of years, and is aided by millions of tiny creatures per cubic inch. From this process of decomposition comes new life.
