Item Description
Beautiful Sunburst plate by Wayne Lee
Measures 13" diam and 2.5" deep
I was very lucky to be able to participate in the last five years that Marguerite taught. Going to Pond Farm changed the way I looked at pottery, art and life.
Before I came to Pond Farm I was making pots without really thinking about them.
I worked at “The Pottery Shop” owned by Peter Deneen as a production potter. Peter would give me guidance for the pots I was making, as he was to sell them in his shop. While studying with Marguerite I was challenged, making new forms, tiles and other projects. With her guidance and questioning, the level of my consciousness that I put into my work grew. She gave me the aspirations to make my pots better every time. She had a knack of making you do your best by getting you to see that “Invisible Core”. It is hard work.
My life became enriched with the friendships I made during those years. Our conversations, whether talking about pots, art or cooking brought a sense of connection to people that I grew to love. This camaraderie has made my life richer.
Each year when the 5 weeks were over, we would clean up, make clay, drink champagne, eat pastries and hope to come back another year.
