Item Description

Title: Swimmer

Artist: Barbara Moody

Materials: Bass is 3ft x 1.5ft and made of .5in Kleer (PVC). Acrylic paint, polyurethane.

Artist's Description: For this project, I painted a detailed, illustrative fish, using bright colors to reflect shimmery scales and patterns. The bass’ yellow eye makes it look more alive.

About the Artist: Barbara earned M.Ed. and Ed.D. degrees from Harvard University, as well as a BFA from Syracuse University. She is a Professor at Montserrat College of Art, where she also served as Dean for nine years. When asked about her work, Barbara says, “My paintings hover exactly between representation and abstraction, where sparks of familiarity coexist with areas of ambiguity. In each environment, a few elements jump into focus while other parts dissolve into pure color, light, and space.”
