Item Description

Title: Blue Willow Bass

Artist: Ruth Bauer

Materials: Bass is 3ft x 1.5ft and made of .5in Kleer (PVC). Paint pen and acrylic pigment in layered washes.

Artist's Description: Blue Willow Bass is a playful homage to the venerable patterns on Blue Willow china. I have strong memories of a childhood fascination with the images on the Blue Willow china that we used for family meals, which inspired the design for my bass.

About the Artist: Ruth Bauer loves to combine images with narrative in lots of different media, and now in a new fascination, with puppets and stop action video. She is the co-creator, with her husband, composer Jim Bauer, of the theater productions The Blue Flower and The War Dept. Ruth believes as strongly in nurturing young artists as in making art, and is a faculty member and Chair of the Arts Department at Shore Country Day School in Beverly.
