Item Description

Title: Different Fish, Same Sea

Artist: Tobey Archibald (Emerging Artist and recipient of Beverly Cultural Council grant)

Materials: Bass is 3ft x 1.5ft and made of .5in Kleer (PVC). Various mixed medias were used, glitter application, sponged acrylic paints, varnish.

Artist's Description: Tobey Archibald’s painted bass represents the diversity in human nature, just like the uniqueness of every fish in the ocean. On the front of the bass, “scales” shine in rainbow color and glitter. Each scale is a little heart, representing the hearts of the many people in society, just like a school of fish. On the back, a smeared acrylic rainbow shows how, although different, all of our colors can blend together to become one beautiful painting. The bass really shows how we are all different fish in the same sea.

About the Artist: Tobey is an acclaimed AP Art Student and President of the Class of 2021 at Beverly High School. He has a passion for art and taking part in the theater, playing music, and spending time with friends.
