Item Description
1930 Bugatti Royale Coupe Napoleon
Scale: 1:24
Die Cast by Franklin Mint. Previously owned Franklin Mint model car. #9
Includes certification documentation.
This model represents the famous 1930 Bugatti La Royale coupe made by the famous Italian-born French manufacturer, Ettore Bugatti, at Molsheim. The car was known variously as the Type 41 and the "Golden Bug" and the engine design was actually half a French Air Force aero engine. Bugatti was hoping for royal buyers but the car was a financial disaster and only six were completed. The surplus engines were used by the French Railways to power high-speed rail cars. This Franklin Mint model is very detailed under the bonnet and undercarriage. The gauges are decals but the passenger seat is upholstered in brocade cloth. The glossy black and royal blue finish has been carefully applied to the panels and doors.
