Item Description
1968 Chevrolet Corvette part of the Precision Model collection
Scale: 1:20
Die Cast by Franklin Mint. Previously owned Franklin Mint model car.#21
The 1968 Corvette Sting Ray sported all-new styling and was based on the Mako Shark II concept car. The design is bold, the Sting Ray is for those who appreciate the true sports car. Its that special kind of automobile that comes along about once every generation to totally arrest the imagination of car buffs. The 68 Sting Ray Coupe is a hardtop and more. Uncommon removable sections over the pilot and passenger lift out for open air moving. A nearly vertical glass rear window tucks out of the way into a neat compartment in the luggage area. The effect is a flow-through roof that had never been seen in an American production sports car until now. Functional louvers behind the front wheels help keep the horses cool. Wraparound front and rear bumpers plus line-smoothing hideaway features help make this Corvette a trim one, style-wise. On the nose end, vacuum-operated headlights glide open automatically when lights are turned on. Windshield wipers arent around when they shouldnt be. Theyre hidden under a power-operated panel which actuates when wipers are turned on or off. Wheels are now one inch wider and the rear roll center was lower allowing the car to corner and hug the road with ease. This Corvette has the 327ci Turbo-Fire V8 Engine that produces 350 hp & 360 lb-ft torque paired to the optional 4-Speed Manual Transmission.
