Item Description
The original teepees were mobile – movable for the nomadic tribes who followed the buffalo. This unique handcrafted art piece shows the 7 teepee poles that represent the 7 teachings and 7 directions of the tribes. In native culture, things are made in circles to represent the circle of life. Made by Georgianna Houle, enrolled member of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa.
The seven teachings are:
To cherish knowledge is to know WISDOM.
To know LOVE is to know peace.
To honor Creation is to have RESPECT.
BRAVERY is to face the foe with integrity.
HONESTY in facing a situation is to be honorable.
HUMILITY is to know yourself as a sacred part of the Creation.
TRUTH is to know all of these things.
