Item Description

Digital Photography 12 in. X 16 in., framed 18 in. X 22 in.

by Pollock A. Youngpole

Pollock took this photo in Santa Fe, NM while visiting his sons. He reworked the photo blending it with other photos in an effort to exemplify the tattoo shown in the picture. The photogragh recently was displayed as part of the FEMICENTRIC show at Summit Artspace.

The best way to honor this photo and the band 'Lindy Vision' is to provide a statement from the artist. "My sisters and I all have tattoos that tell the story of our lives, our journey, and our beliefs. We believe that the body is sacred and should be honored as such, but we also recognize that the physical body is a temporary vessel in this lifetime and it is an important vehicle for self expression. Fear nothing is a mantra that our band has embraced since its inception and its public debut in 2014. Early on in our music career, we recognized the challenges within the predominantly white indie rock music industry and local music scene; and we understood that our experience as 3 black native females would be different and that was going to ultimately shape the way our audience received us and the challenges that come along with that. We developed the mantra 'fear nothing' as a reminder to keep following our dreams despite being repeatedly told we weren't good enough or any other negative feedback we received early on as artists. Becoming fearless enabled us to continue to create art as sisters and gave us the strength we needed to push forward in the face of any hardship we may have been up against including the death of our mother, drug addiction, racism, sexism, and many more. Over the years we have always chosen to face the world with boldness and without fear in our hearts."
