Item Description

Oysters Galore; Taste The Difference!  -  Can you tell the difference between an oyster from Wellfleet and one from Barnstable Harbor?  Or Brewster?  Rhode Island?  Maine?  For the past three years Slow Food Cape Cod has held a local oyster blind taste test on the Saturday before Thanksgiving, when oysters are plentiful and the weather still conducive to dining al fresco.  This certificate entitles you to a seat at the table (or deck, or porch...) to taste the sampling of regional oysters and enjoy a potluck as you taste and compare.  Use your Oyster Flavor Wheel and compare everything from finish linger, to umami and taste, from metallic to fruity.   All tasters voted on briniest, sweetest, best looking and best overall.  A potluck feast compliments the oyster tasting and it’s a perfect way to spend an autumn afternoon on Cape Cod!

THE 2020 EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED DUE TO COVID - This gift certificate will be for the rescheduled event; which the winning bidder will be notified of.  In the meantime, we'll send this very helpful book now -- "A Geography of Oysters: The Connoisseur's Guide to Oyster Eating in North America" by Rowan Jacobsen($20) - Enjoy!
