Item Description
This gorgeous and comfortable shawl works wonderfully as a collar to dress up a simple sweater or dress. Karen des Jardins knit this from a Pincha shawl pattern by Pinpilan Wangsai that uses short rows to create a feather like pattern with a variegated fingering merino wool yarn and a garter stitch. The yarn is Koigu Painter's Pallette Premium Merino.
Karen des Jardins is an award winning artist who elevates crafting into fine art. She is a remarkable, talented, multifaceted person with the heart and hands of an artist and the mind of an engineer. As a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Karen serves as the Regional Chair in San Diego of the MIT Educational Council and as the Organizational Leadership Coach for our executive director, Jess Baron. She and her husband Stephen were the first contributors to support the launch of GITC's AMAISE training, Adaptive Music for Achievement in Inclusion and Special Education.
If you are interested in learning to knit or developing your technique, Karen says this is the perfect time to start. There are many good instructional videos out there. You may find help at your local yarn shop or even adult ed. Karen is also a certified knitting teacher. You are welcome to contact her at kdj.creates@gmail.com for private classes.
