Item Description

This special stringed instrument was designed by the great luthier, Robert Godin and named for his dog, Merlin. In the shaping and sound, Robert drew from the fun twang of the mountain dulcimer and united that with the hold-ability and ease of playing a long necked guitar. GITC has incorporated this instrument in some of our classrooms as a complement to guitar.

The 4 strings are modal, like a dulcimer, offering just two harmonizing notes that make playing melodies simple. The fret spacing is special making it very easy to play folk melodies in a major key or improvise up and down the neck. It is PERFECT for new music makers of any age.

Made in La Patrie Quebec, Canada, it is made out of a single piece of wood!

The M4 was designed to introduce & stimulate people of all ages (some of whom may not necessarily be players) to the joy of creating & playing music. We have a case to go along with it donated by Martin Guitars.

Friends who have picked one of these up say they cannot put it down!
