Item Description
These beautiful Federal Style side tables were designed and handcrafted by local artisan Ryan Meglathery, specifically for this auction. These are heirloom-quality pieces that can withstand the test of time, and are expected to be passed down through the generations. Made entirely of traditional solid domestic hardwoods and veneers, the tables are beautifully adorned with inlays and bandings representative of the Federal period. No materials (with the exception of some applications of PVA glue) that would not be available to an 18th century cabinetmaker were used in the construction (i.e. no engineered woods are used anywhere on the pieces). All inlays were meticulously crafted and inlaid by the artist himself. Finally, the tables have all been finished by hand with shellac, using a period-correct and extremely time-consuming traditional French Polishing process. The French Polish finish provides a mirror-like glossy sheen that is both durable and beautiful, and truly shows the beauty of the woods' colors, grain, and chatoyance.
