Item Description
Young Man Thoreau. By Richard Lebeaux. University of Massachusetts Press, 1977. Good hardcover volume. Has paper dust jacket that has darkened with age. Front flyleaf has been torn out. Otherwise, this book is in good condition. Focusing primarily on the period between Thoreau's graduated from Harvard in 1837 and the beginning of the Walden experiment in 1845, Richard Lebeaux argues that Thoreau had a fatefully prolonged adolescence and troubled young adulthood before emerging as "great man" at Walden and in Walden.
