Item Description
The entire 8-page issue of the Portland Transcript from Maine, dated Wednesday, September 30, 1891. Kept by one collector because it reprints in part an article from Atlantic Monthly by Thomas Wentworth Higginson, remembering his encounters with Emily Dickinson. Also includes the John Greenleaf Whittier poem, "Between the Gates;" as well as an article about spiders being deaf; a story about a young moose kept as a pet; and reports from many communities and towns throughout Maine. Fascinating!
