Item Description

Barry Morang is a visual arts teacher in Rhode Island; as an artist, he practices predominantly photography and mixed media.

Within his work, he is interested in disproving societal stereotypes and expressing the idea that conformity is not always the only option. The motivation that leads to the majority of his work starts with the human form and human behaviors.

WIthin this series he is creating a disorganized puzzle, highlighting that pieces do not always fit int o the space given. There is an opportunity for the viewer to look deeper into the untold story before them, to find what is lying beneath the fragmented and blurred visual surface.

Each photograph is made up of several smaller images that create the illusion of a fragmented individual. As individuals we build an image of ourselves that may or may not necessarily be one that is truthful. We make a conscious decisionto reveal or hide our true self to those around us. The illusionpresentedoffers pieces of the individual's exterior, can you tell the truth from the facade?

18x24 LaserJet Print
The piece has been mounted on foam board with hanging brackets attached to them.
