Item Description
One-of-a-kind albatross pendant hand-crafted by Tucson-based jewelry artist Georgia Sheldon Newman! Designed in honor of International Bird Rescue's 50th anniversary, this lovely mixed-metal piece features a sterling silver top layer with a handmade cutout in the shape of an albatross from the artist's paper sketch. The bottom layer is a solid piece of copper with a red patina. The two pieces are joined by a sterling jump ring and engraved with the words "International Bird Rescue 50th Anniversary" and "Georgia's Jewelry Art 2021".
On the back of the pendant is engraved "Wisdom", the name of the world's longest-lived wild bird, who is a symbol of hope for birds and wildlife that depend on the ocean for their survival. The Laysan albatross is International Bird Rescue's official mascot for our 50th year, and symbolizes the resilience, strength, and teamwork of IBR.
