Item Description
Original piece "Crescent Moon" measuring 18inches wide by 23.5 inches long, and coffee table book of the artist's work.
International Finnish American Fine Artist Taipale Nurmesnieme (Carolle Gorgas 1938-2006) was Rebecca Anderson's grandmother. In summer she lived on her farm in Upper Michigan and painted in the fields, forests, and on the shores of Lake Superior. In the winters she painted in her studio in Pioneer Square in Seattle, Washington, and took trips to Finland, England & Belgium, sketching. Her sketches, model studies, and outdoor studies were the inspiration for the works that appear in this volume. The accompanying original work is study, an original acrylic on paper, one of a very few that remain after a studio fire destroyed many of them. Her canvases remain in the guardianship of the family, and hang on the walls of private collectors in the States, in England, and in Europe, and in the Dennos Museum in Traverse City, Michigan.
