Join UGR3DAY Underground Railroad Experiences Inc. for an epic journey beginning in Wilmington, Delaware. But first, check-in to your hotel on the property that was once an Underground Railroad Station (safe house) in Mendenhall, Pennsylvania (just 6 miles from Wilmington.
Located on the Harriet Tubman Byway, check-in is just before dark, which is when freedom seekers would escape North. A certificate for fine dining is included. Rest well at your secret hideaway and then drive the scenic Harriet Tubman Byway in the morning to meet your Underground Railroad Conductor Dee. Together, you’ll retrace the steps of freedom seekers on a three-mile urban route.
Get ready to take pictures of a half dozen landmarks including statues, a former “slave jail”, Underground Railroad safe house and more! This morning tour is laced with stories of black Underground Railroad Conductors, successful escapes, risks and challenges of escaping slavery.
Experience the drink of the Underground and a pastry at an authentic French café just feet from one of Harriet Tubman’s harrowing escapes!
Travel along a boardwalk maze that takes you through Delaware marshes for an up-close view of one of most common hiding places for freedom seekers. This immersive experience includes the sights, scents, tastes and things to hold & feel from the Underground.

The UGR experiences are designed to immerse the participant in the pages of history. Through creative storytelling and memorable keepsakes, the routes that freedom seekers took are retraced in a powerful way. This began as a sisterhood weekend over the course of three days where 11 friends walked 52 miles through Delaware and Pennsylvania, led by Conductor Dee. This quickly expanded to Underground routes ranging from Bucks County, PA to virtual and cycling journeys. One of the aspects that makes the experiences unique are the special touches added by the Conductor to bring the stories to life. She tells the stories in a way that makes you feel like you were personally introduced to the person.
In addition to being the CEO of UGR3DAY, Conductor Dee is a nationally certified interpretive guide and a nationally certified education consultant, curriculum developer and conference speaker.
