Rare and Valuable: 1951, 1952, 1953 Years Of American Heritage Magazine

Item Description
Did you know that if you have the first year of the treasured American Heritage Magazine of 1954, it wasn't really the first year? It was new ownership. The original publisher was the American Association for State and Local History. Its familiar cover look with the white background and American Eagle symbol started with their September, 1949 issue and continued until 1954 when James Parton took over as publisher with the legendary Bruce Catton as editor.
If you have that first issue, it does list its first magazine as Volume VI Number I. The 1949-1954 issues disappeared into collections and finding one year's worth is quite remarkable.
A complete bound run was sold some years ago for over $4,000 by a book dealer.
We have three of these unique years with an understandable reserve. The collector is donating the issues, but will keep the magazines if the reserve is not met.
You can see all the issues up for auction and the Announcement about the change in 1954, in the images section of this listing.
Thank you to Pete Tamburro for this generous, unique and rare donation!
