Item Description
Monstera earring on 2inch gold filled amethyst gemstone chain.
Made on the island of Kauai and donated by one of our members of Hui Ulana Lauhala Kauai, a community weaving group led by Kumu Maile Andrade, a faculty member at Kamakakuokalani Center for Hawaiian Studies.
One of the classes Maile Andreade teaches is HWST 222 Introduction to Hawaiian Fiber Arts Studio-Hana Noeau Maawe, an introduction to a variety of fibers used in the Hawaiian culture. Emphasis on cultivation, preparation, uses and conservation of the fibers. Areas explored are kapa, plaiting, netting and twining. This class is a part of the Halau o Laka: Native Hawaiian Creative Expression concentration track.
