About the instructor:
Born and raised on Kauai, Eugene Onio Punzal has been teaching coconut weaving classes for over 25 years. After his retirement in 2013, as a Manager of Japan Affairs/Concierge for PAHIO/Wyndham Resorts, Uncle Onio volunteered at the Kauai Museum, and became their Cultural Weaving Practitioner, holding classes in coconut, lauhala and Ti Leaf, as perpetuation of cultural weaving. As part of an outreach Cultural Program through the Kauai Museum, Uncle Onio provides free 45 minute coconut weaving demonstrations to any school or organization on Kauai.

Hawaiinuiakea is thankful for the opportunity to collaborate and feature weaving practitioners like Uncle Onio who is a member of Kumu Maile Andrade's Hui Ulana Lauhala Kauai.
